Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to data from previous years.

GCSE Results 2025

Introduction

We are proud of our Y11 students who completed their GCSEs in 2025, recognising the resilience, commitment and hard work they have shown throughout their time at Yateley School. For a full breakdown of outcomes, please visit the School Performance Data Service from the DfE [HERE].

The Department for Education advises that GCSE outcomes for recent cohorts should be viewed in context. As formal KS2 SATs did not take place for this year group, their prior attainment was estimated using alternative assessments such as CATs. This makes direct comparisons across years and between schools more challenging and should be interpreted with caution.

Despite this, the 2025 results reflect many areas of strength across the curriculum, and the dedication shown by students and staff throughout the year.

Basics (English & Maths Combined)

70.1% achieved grades 4–9 in both English and Maths
47.1% achieved grades 5–9 in both English and Maths
9.8% achieved grades 7–9 in both English and Maths

Progress 8 and Attainment 8

Progress 8: +0.02
Attainment 8: 47.7

(National averages for 2025 will be added once published.)

Ebacc Entry and Achievement

Ebacc entry: 28%
Achieved Ebacc at grade 4+: 20%
Achieved Ebacc at grade 5+: 16%

Subject Highlights

Our 2025 results include several subjects that achieved particularly strong outcomes, with high proportions of students securing grades 9–5 and 9–7. Subjects with notably strong attainment include:

  • Graphics

  • Religious Studies

  • Computer Science

  • Geography

  • Biology, Chemistry and Physics

  • Drama and Art

  • German

  • Food Technology

We also recognise the excellent performance in CACHE at KS4 and KS5, which continues to be a strength of the school.

Performance in English and Maths

Nationally, outcomes at grade 4+ fell once again in 2025.

  • National English 4+: 59.7%

  • National Maths 4+: 58.2%

Yateley School remains above these national figures:

  • Yateley English 4+: 75.5%

  • Yateley Maths 4+: 80.4%

Student Groups

Pupil Premium:
The gap between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged students has widened slightly compared with last year, though the overall disadvantaged progress score remains one of the stronger results of the past decade.

SEND:
The SEN K progress figure is shown as –0.40, though this includes three students educated off-site. Removing those three brings the SEN K figure to around –0.10, with 20 of 35 students achieving positive progress. This reflects strong, targeted in-school provision.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025

We are proud of all our students for their hard work, ambition and perseverance. While some outcomes dipped slightly compared with the very strong results in 2024, the cohort achieved many successes across a broad and balanced curriculum. We look forward to celebrating their achievements and supporting them as they move on to the next stage of their education, training or employment.
